I like the layout for this contents as it is very laid out and organised so it will be easy for the reader to understand. I do feel however that there is a lot on the page so it may be off putting, you could change this by having text on one side and one large image on the other. I also do not think it is necessary having the year and date and I would suggest just using a date. Other than these minor adjustments, this looks like a good layout and I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

 

Double page spread

 

The simplistic approach looks good for your double page spread but I think you should have some larger headings so it stands out more for the reader. I like how you have a few images which will show variation.

Audience feedback from student Stephanie Colderick aged 17 Draft-Double Page Spread I really like the images used within the double page spread and feel the styling of the two models works really well to make them look like an effective and genuine duo. The main image on the right hand side of the page is effective and I like how this takes up the whole page, however I feel that the guitar especially the colour of the guitar is very different to the theme of the double page spread.   The use of the light blue colour is effective in adding to the sleek black and white colour scheme and I feel to improve slightly you could possibly use this colour more especially throughout the rest of the page.  Your clear margins and guidelines really give the page a professional look and feel which is enhanced by the good quality photos. I really like the font chosen and feel this matches your magazine genre well, however maybe more of the article could feature on the page which could be achieve

Christophe Brunnquell Brunnquell is a French Art Director and Artist. He began working as an art director for Encore Magazine and soon afterwards he was hired Olivier Zahm and Elein Fleiss for Purple Magazine. Although the popularity of Purple Magzine helped him a great deal, he was then soon involved working with others such as  Louis Vuitton. Working alongside Purple Magazine allowed Brunnquell to experiment things as the company gave him a lot of freedom, this resulted in the changing of the magazines format, paper and layout. As you can see his studio is based in Waddington and he gains much interest here for his work: Gento Matsumoto What catches many people's attention in Matsumoto's creations is his background in magazine design. David Carson Carson is an American Graphic Designer, who is well known for his experimental use of typography. He was also the art director for the magazine 'Ray Gun'. This was the beginning of his unique layouts and 'grunge typography'. Here is an example of one of Carson's ideas of 'grunge' typography. As you can see he enjoys to add more extravagant fonts to his magazines in order for it to become independent and stand out from the crowd. People often say that his work is imitated but never matched, as he continues to be one of the most distinctive typographic voices. Here is another example of Carson's work and at first the focus is on the title and picture as they are the most eye-catching at first glance. However, as you look closely you can witness what Carson is known for- his typography. As we can see that within this image of his work, the font compliments the colours in the photograph.
